This month’s Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits Tool Box article discusses a recently-completed Historic Tax Credit (HTC) project in Galveston, Texas. Sandpiper Cove, a historic affordable housing complex on the northern edge of the city, had no protection from rising waters from the nearby Galveston Channel during 2008’s Hurricane Ike. After acquiring the property, ITEX Group embarked on a substantial rehabilitation of the property, which included a new $3.8M floodwall surrounding the entire perimeter.
