Project Details

Heritage has a longstanding relationship with Loews Hotels, serving as their historic consultant for the Loews Philadelphia Hotel/PSFS Building, a National Historic Landmark which is regarded as the first modern skyscraper in the United States. Built for the Philadelphia Saving Fund Society in 1932, this 33-story building served as the bank headquarters and offices, and its Modern style marked a departure from the Classical bank architecture popular in previous generations.

Heritage has represented Loews Hotels in local design review matters, including storefront and signage improvements. The 30 foot high rooftop PSFS sign is a visual landmark in the city today as it was during the Great Depression when it remained lit 24 hours a day to reassure the bank’s customers that their money was safe and secure.
